Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, has officially taken charge as the Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex trade organization of the country.
According to an official press release issued by the FBCCI, Md. Abdur Rahim Khan formally assumed his responsibilities as the new Administrator on Sunday morning (November 2).
The Ministry of Commerce, through an office order, appointed him as the Administrator of the FBCCI under Section 17 of the Trade Organizations Act, 2022. The appointment authorizes him to oversee the activities of the country’s top trade body during the interim period and to ensure the organization’s operational continuity.
As outlined in the order, Rahim has been tasked with conducting a fair and impartial election of the FBCCI within 120 days. Upon completion of the election process, he will hand over charge to the newly elected board of directors.
The FBCCI, serving as the umbrella organization for the country’s chambers of commerce and trade associations, plays a crucial role in representing the private sector’s interests and promoting trade and industrial development in Bangladesh.
Officials from the Ministry of Commerce and FBCCI expressed confidence that under Rahim’s leadership, the transition process will be completed smoothly, ensuring transparency and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Md. Abdur Rahim Khan has long been associated with the Ministry of Commerce, holding key administrative roles in trade policy formulation and regulatory oversight. His appointment is viewed as a step toward ensuring an orderly and credible electoral process within the country’s premier business federation.
