Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today encouraged the younger generation to prioritize innovation and production over corruption as a means of creating wealth for themselves and the nation.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 17th Convocation of BRAC University, Khan highlighted the dual paths to wealth, emphasizing that sustainable progress can be achieved only through productive efforts. “We all want to create wealth for ourselves, our families, and our nation. But wealth can be earned in two ways: through innovation and production or through corruption. We must pursue wealth through innovation,” he stated.
The convocation saw the participation of distinguished guests, including Professor Adam Habib, Vice-Chancellor of SOAS University of London; BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Syed Ferhat Anwar; University Grants Commission members Prof. Md Saidur Rahman and Prof. M Anwar Hossen; Chairperson of BRAC University Board of Trustees Tamara Hasan Abed; and Dr. Sadia Hamid Kazi.
Adviser Khan underscored the role of production and entrepreneurship in national development. “We are here to create wealth for our families and our nation. I want you to be wealthy, but please acquire wealth through production and entrepreneurship,” he said, highlighting the ethical dimensions of economic activity.
Addressing the future economic landscape, Khan noted that merit and capability would increasingly determine success. “The future economy will reward capability over connections. Your position will depend on what you can actually do,” he explained, stressing the importance of skill acquisition and adaptability.
The adviser emphasized the significance of modern educational tools and global competitiveness. He highlighted the relevance of coding boot camps, micro-credentials, and international collaboration, asserting that only those who can innovate, adapt, and maintain integrity are likely to succeed in the long term.
Khan also encouraged graduates to avoid shortcuts and contribute to building a nation anchored in ethics, creativity, and honest labor. “Your choices will shape not only your own future but also the future of the nation,” he remarked, emphasizing the broader societal impact of individual decision-making.
During the convocation, Adviser Khan conferred graduate and post-graduate degrees and medals to the graduating students. He encouraged them to apply their skills toward advancing Bangladesh’s position on the global stage, underlining the role of education, innovation, and responsible leadership in national development.
