A Dhaka court has set November 27 for delivering judgment in three cases filed against 47 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, over alleged irregularities in RAJUK plot allocations.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 fixed the date after both the prosecution and the defense concluded their arguments in the cases, confirmed ACC public prosecutor Mir Ahammed Salam to BSS.
The cases are part of six filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) between January 12 and 14, 2025. The Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 had framed charges in three of the six cases and issued arrest warrants against the accused on July 31. On the same day, the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 framed charges in three more identical cases.
Earlier, on July 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib sent the cases to trial courts after noting that the accused had failed to appear despite repeated court orders. On July 1, the court issued a gazette notification summoning 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
According to case documents, ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin filed the first case on January 14 against eight individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, over the allocation of a 10-katha plot in Purbachal. The charge-sheet for this case was later expanded to include 12 accused.
On the same day, ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan filed a second case against 15 individuals, including Hasina and Joy, with a charge-sheet listing 17 accused.
Additionally, on January 13, Salahuddin filed another case against 15 people, including Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Radwan Mujib, Tulip Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq; the charge-sheet named 17 accused. Another case filed that day accused 16 individuals, including Hasina, Tulip Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq, with the charge-sheet listing 18 accused.
Further, a case was filed against Radwan Mujib and 15 others, with the charge-sheet naming 18 accused. On January 12, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed a case against 16 individuals, including Hasina and Saima Wazed Putul; the charge-sheet listed 18 accused.
The Anti-Corruption Commission submitted charge-sheets in all six cases on March 10, 2025. The forthcoming judgment on November 27 will determine the outcome of the three cases in which arguments have been concluded, marking a significant development in high-profile allegations involving senior political figures and their family members.
