Dhaka, November 25, 2025 — Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 today set December 1 for delivering the judgment in a high-profile case concerning alleged irregularities in the allocation of a 10-katha plot in the RAJUK New Town Project. The case involves 17 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her niece Tulip Siddique.

Judge Robiul Alam passed the order after both the prosecution and the defence concluded their arguments in the case, according to ACC public prosecutor Mir Ahammed Salam. The court had previously fixed November 25 for hearing arguments, following submissions from counsel for one of the accused, Khurshid Alam, who pleaded not guilty. The remaining 16 accused are currently absconding and are being tried in absentia.

The trial had reached its testimony phase earlier this month. On November 18, the court concluded the examination of witnesses when Investigation Officer (IO) and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya completed her deposition. In total, 32 prosecution witnesses provided testimony during the proceedings.

The case was initially filed on January 13, 2025, by ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin, naming 15 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, and Tulip Siddique. Subsequently, the IO submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused on March 10, 2025.

Charges in this matter were framed across multiple courts. Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 framed charges in three of the related cases on July 31, while Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 framed charges in three other similar cases on the same day.

Legal experts note that the case is being closely monitored due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the implications for public sector land allocation practices. The verdict, now scheduled for December 1, will conclude a procedural phase that has included detailed witness examinations and comprehensive legal arguments from both prosecution and defence teams.

The outcome of this case is expected to have significant repercussions for anti-corruption enforcement practices in Bangladesh, particularly regarding the transparency of property allocations by public authorities.
